Should I choose Inside Mount or Outside Mount?
Choose Inside Mount if you want the shade installed within the window frame for a clean, built-in appearance.
Choose Outside Mount if your window does not have enough mounting depth, or if you want additional coverage around the window opening.
Always check your window structure before selecting the mount type.
How Do I Measure for an Outside-Mount Cellular Shade?
Measure the full window width, including the moulding, and add 1/2 inch in total as a starting point. For stronger light control and privacy, allow up to 1 1/2 inches of overlap per side when space permits, then enter your planned finished width.
Measure from the planned top of the headrail to the desired bottom edge. The starting point is the full window height, including the moulding, plus 3 inches. If you mount the headrail higher, include that extra distance in the finished height.
Example: a window measuring 40 inches wide by 60 inches high, including the moulding, gives a starting order size of 40 1/2 inches wide by 63 inches high. Confirm the planned coverage and mounting position before ordering. Do not apply the 3/8-inch inside-mount deduction to an outside-mount shade.
Do I Need to Subtract ⅜ Inch for an Inside Mount?
Yes. For a manually measured inside mount, measure the opening width at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement and subtract 3/8 inch before entering your order width. Do not round up.
Measure the opening height at the left, center, and right. Use the largest measurement as your order height, without any deduction.
Example: if the smallest opening width is 40 inches, enter 39 5/8 inches as your order width. Check the clear depth and any obstructions before ordering.
What Minimum Window Depth Is Required for an Inside Mount?
An inside mount requires at least 2 1/2 inches of clear, unobstructed window depth for this cellular shade, unless the selected configuration states otherwise.
Measure the clear depth at the top of the opening, from the front edge to the nearest obstruction. Handles, locks, screens, and projecting trim can reduce the usable depth. Check the supplied headrail and bracket instructions before installation.
If the opening does not provide the required clear depth, choose an outside mount and measure the planned finished coverage.
