How do I measure my windows for custom drapery?
Measure the curtain rod from end to end, excluding the finials. The width selected on the product page is the finished width of one panel when fully extended. For pleated headings, the construction fullness is already included, so do not apply an additional fullness multiplier.
Choose your curtain heading style and hanging hardware before measuring the length. The measurement starting point depends on your setup: the ring eye or hook attachment point for pinch-pleat curtains, or the carrier or hook attachment point for track-mounted curtains. For grommet curtains, follow the starting point and allowance specified in our Drapery Measurement Guide.
Are the curtains sold as single panels or pairs?
Curtain panels are sold individually. Quantity 1 means one panel, and quantity 2 means two panels. For a balanced pair, order two panels with the same finished width and length. Please confirm the panel quantity in your cart before checkout.
How do I choose the correct finished width?
Select the finished width for one panel—the width it will cover when fully extended. For pleated headings, fullness is already built into the construction, so do not multiply the selected finished width again. If ordering two panels, divide the desired total coverage between the two panels. Measure the curtain rod between the finials and follow our Measurement Guide before ordering.
What lining options are available?
Available lining choices shown on each product page are Unlined and Privacy 50%, 60%, or 70%. Higher percentages provide greater privacy and reduce more incoming light, but results vary with the fabric color, room lighting, installation, and light entering around the edges. Choose only from the options displayed for the product.
Do these curtains provide thermal insulation?
Denser fabrics and optional linings can help reduce drafts and heat transfer at the window. Performance varies by fabric, lining, window type, and installation. These curtains are not rated insulation products, and energy savings are not guaranteed.
What heading styles are available?
Available styles are Pinch Pleat, Tailor Pleat, Triple Pleat, Triple Tailor Pleat, Triple French Pleat, Pinch Pleat with Back Tab, Goblet, French Pleat, Inverted Box Pleat, and Grommet. Hooks are included where stated in the product options. Rods and rings are not included unless they are specifically listed with the product.
Can I order fabric swatches before I buy?
Absolutely! We highly recommend ordering our Free Swatches to see the colors and feel the textures in your home’s natural lighting before placing a custom order.
How long will it take to receive my custom drapery?
Order processing time (including production): 1–8 days. Estimated transit time is 20–35 days for Standard Shipping and 12–20 days for Express Shipping. Estimated total delivery time is therefore 21–43 days for Standard Shipping and 13–28 days for Express Shipping. These estimates are not guaranteed; available methods and charges are shown at checkout.
What should I do if there is a sizing or order issue?
Custom drapes are made to the measurements and options confirmed in your order. Please review the Measurement Guide and your order details carefully before checkout. If the delivered product does not match the confirmed specifications or arrives damaged or defective, contact info@diycurtain.com within 30 days with your order number and clear photos or video. Customer measurement or option-selection errors are not eligible for change-of-mind returns; please see our Refund Policy for full terms.
How do I remove wrinkles from my new drapes?
It is normal for drapes to have slight creases from shipping. Most wrinkles will fall out naturally after hanging for a few days. For immediate results, you can use a handheld garment steamer on a low heat setting.
