Custom Linen Blackout Roman Shades for Windows | Diycurtain
Custom Blackout Roman Shades with a Woven Linen Texture
Create a coordinated window finish with Diycurtain’s DY-series custom Roman shades. The finely woven fabric combines 90% polyester and 10% linen, bringing subtle texture to a palette of linen greys, warm beige, taupe, sage, muted blues, and deeper accent colors.
At approximately 700 g/m², the fabric has enough structure to form clean Roman folds while maintaining a tailored appearance. Each shade is made to your selected dimensions, with inside- and outside-mount options to suit your window.

Light Control & Privacy
The blackout construction is designed to significantly reduce incoming light and provide added privacy. Consider this shade for bedrooms, living rooms, or media spaces where reducing daylight is a priority.
The darkness achieved in your room depends on the selected color, window exposure, shade dimensions, and mounting method. Light can still enter around the edges, particularly with an inside mount. A blackout shade does not guarantee a completely dark room.
An outside mount with suitable overlap can help reduce light around the window edges. Review your intended coverage before choosing the finished dimensions.

Tailored Look · Clean Lines
Structured folds create a polished, custom-fitted appearance.
Flexible Light Control · Added Privacy
Fabric and lining options provide varying levels of light control and privacy.
Space-Saving Design · Custom Fit
Stacks neatly when raised and is custom sized for a clean, proportional fit.
Stack height varies by shade size, fabric, fold style, and mounting method. It is typically about 9–14 inches; taller shades may require a larger stack.
How Do I Measure for an Outside-Mount Roman Shade?
Choose an outside mount if the opening is too shallow for the required inside-mount depth, is uneven, or you want additional window coverage. The current Roman shade guide requires at least 2 1/2 inches of clear depth for an inside mount, unless the selected model states otherwise.
Measure the full window width including moulding. The guide’s starting point is this width plus 1/2 inch in total. For additional coverage, plan up to 1 1/2 inches of overlap on each side where space permits; enter the resulting finished width rather than adding both allowances together.
Measure the finished height from the planned top of the headrail to the desired bottom edge. The guide’s starting point is the full window height including moulding plus 3 inches. If you mount higher, include that additional distance. Do not apply the 3/8-inch inside-mount deduction.
Do I Need to Subtract ⅜ Inch for an Inside Mount?
For a manually measured inside mount, measure the opening width at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement and subtract 3/8 inch once before entering your order width.
Example: a smallest opening width of 40 inches gives an order width of 39 5/8 inches. This is the order width after your deduction; do not deduct it a second time. Do not subtract from the height. Check the Roman Shade Measurement Guide and any model-specific instructions before ordering.
How Do I Measure the Height for an Inside-Mount Roman Shade?
Measure the inside height at the left, center, and right, from the top inside edge of the opening to the sill. Enter the largest measurement as your order height. Do not deduct from the inside-mount height.
Record dimensions in inches to the nearest 1/8 inch, with width first and height second. Measure every window separately and check for obstructions.
What Minimum Window Depth Is Required for an Inside Mount?
The current Roman shade headrail requires at least 2 1/2 inches of clear, unobstructed depth for an inside mount, unless the selected product specifies a different requirement.
Measure at the top of the opening from the front edge to the nearest obstruction. Handles, locks, screens, and projecting trim reduce usable depth. If clear depth is less than 2 1/2 inches, choose an outside mount or contact us before ordering. Do not assume that a 2-inch opening meets this requirement.
