Custom Natural Linen Roman Shades – Semi-Blackout | Diycurtain
Custom Roman Shades with Linen Texture and Softer Daylight
Bring a softly textured finish to your windows with Diycurtain’s DC-series custom Roman shades. Made from 85% polyester and 15% linen, the approximately 700 g/m² fabric forms structured folds when raised and a tailored fabric surface when lowered.
The semi-blackout fabric softens daylight, reduces glare, and adds privacy while allowing some light into the room. It is a suitable option for living rooms, dining areas, and home offices where you want gentler light and a coordinated window treatment.

What to Expect from Semi-Blackout Fabric
This fabric reduces incoming light but does not provide complete blackout. The result varies with fabric color, sunlight, window dimensions, and installation. Light may also enter around the edges of the shade.
For a bedroom, consider how much darkness you need before choosing semi-blackout. If complete darkness is your priority, contact us to discuss a more suitable option.
Check the Fabric Before Ordering
Fabric color and texture can look different across screens and room lighting. Request a fabric sample to assess the material in your own space before placing a custom order.
Tailored Look · Clean Lines
Roman shades create structured folds that bring a polished, custom-fitted appearance to the window without adding visual bulk.
Flexible Light Control · Added Privacy
Depending on the selected fabric and lining, Roman shades can provide different levels of light filtering and privacy to suit bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, and home offices.
Stack height varies by shade size, fabric, fold style, and mounting method. It is typically about 9–14 inches; taller shades may require a larger stack.
How Do I Measure for an Outside-Mount Roman Shade?
Choose an outside mount if the opening is too shallow for the required inside-mount depth, is uneven, or you want additional window coverage. The current Roman shade guide requires at least 2 1/2 inches of clear depth for an inside mount, unless the selected model states otherwise.
Measure the full window width including moulding. The guide’s starting point is this width plus 1/2 inch in total. For additional coverage, plan up to 1 1/2 inches of overlap on each side where space permits; enter the resulting finished width rather than adding both allowances together.
Measure the finished height from the planned top of the headrail to the desired bottom edge. The guide’s starting point is the full window height including moulding plus 3 inches. If you mount higher, include that additional distance. Do not apply the 3/8-inch inside-mount deduction.
Do I Need to Subtract ⅜ Inch for an Inside Mount?
For a manually measured inside mount, measure the opening width at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement and subtract 3/8 inch once before entering your order width.
Example: a smallest opening width of 40 inches gives an order width of 39 5/8 inches. This is the order width after your deduction; do not deduct it a second time. Do not subtract from the height. Check the Roman Shade Measurement Guide and any model-specific instructions before ordering.
How Do I Measure the Height for an Inside-Mount Roman Shade?
Measure the inside height at the left, center, and right, from the top inside edge of the opening to the sill. Enter the largest measurement as your order height. Do not deduct from the inside-mount height.
Record dimensions in inches to the nearest 1/8 inch, with width first and height second. Measure every window separately and check for obstructions.
What Minimum Window Depth Is Required for an Inside Mount?
The current Roman shade headrail requires at least 2 1/2 inches of clear, unobstructed depth for an inside mount, unless the selected product specifies a different requirement.
Measure at the top of the opening from the front edge to the nearest obstruction. Handles, locks, screens, and projecting trim reduce usable depth. If clear depth is less than 2 1/2 inches, choose an outside mount or contact us before ordering. Do not assume that a 2-inch opening meets this requirement.
